In the world of Ultra running the buckle is the highest accolade that you can receive, as the story goes the Western State 100 mile foot race used to be a horse race. One of the riders horses took ill so he decided to complete the course by foot, not only did he go on to complete the course but he also beat quite a few of the horses in the race. When he crossed the finish line they didn’t know what to give the runner for completing the event so they presented him with a rodeo buckle and both the 100 mile event and 100 mile race buckle were born. The Western State is now the oldest 100 mile race on the event schedule and the buckle is the pride and enjoy of many a runner.
The cost of each buckle is ยฃ20 + ยฃ4.50 postage (sorry royal mail have increased their postage costs)
